Chanel-style cropped jacket

Our Chanel-style cropped jacket can be whipped up in a weekend!

You’ll need

  • Elle Saxony (100g) 4(4;5;5;6;6) balls Dragonfly 027
  • oddment in contrast colour of your choice (we used Elle Classic Wool aran in graphite 051)
  • 4mm and 4.5mm crochet hooks

Size

To fit sizes: 77-82(87-92;97-102;107- 112;117-122;127-132)cm
All-round measurement of garment: Bust: 82(92;102;112;122;132)cm
Length to shoulder: 45(45;45;50;50;50)cm
Sleeve length: 33(33;33;35;35;35)cm

Tension

14tr and 9 rows = 10cm using a 4.5mm hook

Owing to printing restrictions, the colour reproduction is matched as closely to the yarn as possible. Save time, take time, check tension. For best results it is essential to obtain the correct tension. If there are too few stitches on the test swatch, use a thinner hook; if there are too many stitches, use a thicker hook.

To make

Back

Using a 4.5mm hook make 59(65;73;79;87;93)ch.
1st row: RSF, 1tr in 3rd ch from hook (2ch missed – 1tr), 1tr in each ch to end – 58(64;72;78;86;92)tr.
2nd row: 3ch (– 1tr), 1tr in each tr to end, 1tr in top of 2ch.
3rd row: 3ch (– 1tr), 1tr in each tr to end, 1tr in top of 3ch.
Rep 3rd row until work measures 45(45;45;50;50;50)cm from beg, then fasten off.

Right and left fronts 

Using a 4.5mm hook make 29(33;37;41;43;47)ch.
1st row: RSF, 1tr in 3rd ch from hook (2ch missed – 1tr), 1tr in each ch to end – 28(32;36;40;42;46)tr.
Cont in patt as for back until work measures 30(30;30;35;35;35)cm from beg ending with a WSR for right front and RSR for left front.

Shape neck 

Tr2tog at beg of next row, then at same edge on next 9(10;10;11;10;12) rows – 18(21;25;28;31;33)tr.
Cont straight if necessary until work measures same as back, then fasten off.

Sleeves (both alike) 

Using a 4.5mm hook make 31(33;33;37;37;39)ch.
1st row: RSF, 1tr in 3rd ch from hook (2ch missed – 1tr), 1tr in each ch to end – 30(32;32;36;36;38)tr.
Cont in patt as for back, inc 1tr at each end (by working 1tr in same st as beg 3ch and 2tr in last tr) of every 3rd(3rd;2nd;2nd;2nd;2nd) row 8(9;11;7;8;13) times – 46(50;54;50;52;64)tr.

4th and 5th sizes only 

Inc 1tr at each end of every 4th row 3 times – -(-;-;56;58;-)tr.

All sizes 

Cont straight until work measures 33(33;33;35;35;35)cm from beg, then fasten off.

To make up 

Sew shoulder seams.
Place markers 18(20;21;22;23;25)cm down on either side of shoulder seams.
Fold sleeves in half lengthways, then placing folds on shoulder seams, sew sleeves into position between markers.
Sew up side and sleeve seams.

Edging 

RSF, using a 4mm hook and contrast colour of your choice, slst in corner of left front bottom edge, 2ch (– 1htr), 1htr in
each foundation ch across left front, back and right front to corner, 2htr in same ch as last htr, work 8(48;48;56;56;56)
htr evenly up right front and neck (– ±16htr per 10 cm), 1htr in front loop of each tr across back neck, work 8(48;48;56;56;56)htr evenly down left front, 2htr in same place as beg 2ch, slst in top of 2ch, fasten off.

Sleeve edgings (both alike)

RSF, using a 4mm hook and contrast colour of your choice, slst in st at seam, 2ch (– 1htr), 1htr in each foundation ch
around, slst in top of 2ch, fasten off.

Block garment to measurements, cover with a damp cloth and allow to dry.
