This is an easy and cheap way to make DIY play dough – and it’s non-toxic too!
You will need
- 250ml flour
- 250ml warm water
- 30ml salt
- 30ml cream of tartar
- 30ml sunflower oil
- 5 packets jelly powder
- Place all ingredients in a small pot and mix until there are no lumps. Let the kids help with the measuring and mixing.
- Cook over a medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture starts to thicken into a ball of dough. (This takes time.)
- Place on a floured cutting board and allow to cool for 30 minutes.
- Knead the dough and keep adding flour (about 125ml) until it’s no longer sticky. Add extra food colouring to make the colours more vibrant.
NOTE Store your play dough in an airtight container in the fridge. With daily use it will keep for a few weeks. If the mixture becomes sticky, add more flour.
