Learn how to make your own hanging glass jars with this easy DIY craft!
Paint a piece of wood or buy a scalloped board from your local craft store. If it doesn’t have holes at the top, drill a hole in each corner, or attach a picture hook at the back for hanging. Gently sand the edges to create a worn look. Attach a hook to the centre of the board with small tacks or screws (ensure the screws are short enough not to go through the wood), with the top of the hook in line with the holes. Cut a length of thong or string to use as the ‘handle’ to hang and place it over the top of the opening of the jar, with the ends hanging down. Tightly wind another piece of thong around the edge of the jar, holding down the ‘handle’ piece and tie to secure. Take the two ends of the ‘handle’ and knot them together. Hang the jar on the hook. Through the holes at the top of the wood, thread a piece of leather thong so that it can be hung. Fill the jar with a small amount of water and add some greenery or flowers.
Tip: Hang the jars in your kitchen to keep your herbs fresh and handy.
