Knitted Christmas trees

You can make these knitted Christmas trees in an afternoon!

You’ll need

  • DK yarn in colours of your choice (we used Elle Premier Natural Cotton in grey, denim and light blue)
  • 4mm knitting needles
  • sewing needle
  • small amount of batting

You’ll need 2 triangles and a stem for each tree.

To make


Cast on 18 sts.
Row 1: Knit (RS)
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: K1. ssk. Knit to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1
Row 4: Purl
Rep rows 1-4 until you have 4 sts.
Next row: ssk. K2tog
Final row: P2tog
Break yarn, pull through loop and fasten securely.


Cast on 5 sts. Knit 12 rows garter stitch.
Cast off.


  1. Sew the triangles together along the sides.
  2. Stuff the tree slightly with batting.
  3. Fold the stem in half and sew in place onto the bottom of the tree.
