Versatile knit

Wrap it any way – this is a versatile knit to get you through many winters to come!

You’ll need

  • 9 x 50g balls Vinnis Serina 4 ply (we used garnet)
  • 3.25mm needles
  • yarn needle
  • 10 x 1cm shell buttons
  • matching thread and sewing needle

Finished size

Fits all sizes: 50cm x 150cm (depending on your tension)
Gauge: does not affect the pattern.

Abbreviations

c/on – cast on; ns – needles; c/off – cast off; p – purl; cont – continue; sts – stitches; k2tog – knit 2 together;  st st – stocking stitch; k – knit; yo – yarn over

To make

Cast on 120sts.
Rows 1-3: Work three rows single rib (K1, P1). The wrap is now worked with six sts of single rib on either side (border), with st st as the main body.
Row 4: K1, P1, K1, P1, K1,P1. K to last 6sts. K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1.
Row 5: K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1. P to last 6 sts. K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1. Cont working rows 4 and 5 until work
measures 10cm, ending with purl row.

RIGHT SIDE FACING

Buttonhole row:
K1, P1, K1, YO, K2tog, P1.
K to last 6 sts.
K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1.
Cont in pattern for another 24 rows.
Work another buttonhole row.
Cont in this way until 5 buttonholes have been made.
Cont in pattern for 98cm, ending with a purl row.

*Sizing note: If you’re petite, shorten the wrap here by knitting only 88cm, before beginning the remaining
buttonholes.

Buttonhole row:
K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1.
K to last 6 sts. K1, P1, K1,
YO, K2tog, P1.
Cont in pattern for another 24 rows.
Work another buttonhole row.
Cont in this way until 5 buttonholes have been made.
Cont pattern for another 9cm, ending with a purl row.

Last three rows:
Work three rows in single rib
(K1, P1).
Cast off.

TO FINISH 

Work in loose ends.
Sew on 10 buttons (see diagram) to line up with buttonholes on the opposite sides of the wrap.
Block using steam.
