Our waterfall cardigan is perfect for cool but sunny days. So easy to knit, too!

You’ll need

  • ELLE BABYKINS DK (50g) 12(13;15;16) balls Teddie 049
  • one pair 4.5mm knitting needles
  • one 4.5mm circular knitting needle

To fit bust: 82-87(92-97; 102-107;112-117)cm

Tension

21sts and 34 rows = 10cm over moss stitch using 4,5mm needles

Model wears size small.

Instructions

Right front, back and left front are worked sideways in one piece.

Right front 

Using a 4.5mm circular needle cast on 173(177;185;185)sts.
Row 1: RSF, k1, (p1, k1) to end.
Row 2: P1, (k1, p1) to end.
These 2 rows will now be referred to as single rib.
Cont as folls:
Row 1: RSF, k1, (p1, k1) to end.
Row 2: (P1, k1) twice, (k1, p1)
to last 5sts, k2, p1, k1, p1.
Rep last 2 rows until work measures 42(42;46;46)cm from beg ending with a WSR.

Armhole opening 

*Next row: Patt 47sts,
cast off next 38(45;49;49)sts, patt to end.
Next row: Patt 88(85;89;89)
sts, cast on 38(45;49;49)sts, patt to end*.

Back

Cont straight in patt until work measures 37(41;45;49)cm from armhole opening, ending with a WSR, then make armhole opening as from * to *.

Left front 

Cont in patt until work measures 41(41;45;45)cm from armhole opening, ending with a RSR.
Next row: WSF, p1, (k1, p1) to end.
Cast off all sts loosely RW.

Sleeves (both alike)

Using 4.5mm needles cast on 47(49;51;53)sts and work 2 rows single rib patt.
Next row: RSF, k1, (p1, k1) to end.
Rep last row, inc 1 st into patt at each end of every 14th row 8(7;2;0) times = 63(63;55;53) sts.
Inc 1 st at each end of every 12th row 3(0;7;7) times = 69(63;69;67)sts.
Inc 1 st at each end of every 10th row 0(5;4;7) times = 69(73;77;81)sts.
Cont straight until work measures 47(48;49;49)cm from beg, ending with a WSR.

Shape top of sleeve 

Cast off 5sts at beg of next 6(6;8;8) rows = 39(43;37;41)sts.
Cast off 2sts at beg of next 8 rows = 23(27;21;25)sts.
Cast off 6(7;5;7)sts at beg of next 2 rows = 11(13;11;11)sts.
Cast off all sts.

To make up 

Fold sleeves in half lengthways, and with right sides tog and folds at top of armhole opening, sew sleeves
into position.
Sew up sleeve seam.
Block garment to measurements, cover with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

  • Save time, take time, check tension. For best results it is essential to obtain the correct tension. If there are too few stitches on your test swatch, use thinner needles; if there are too many stitches, use thicker needles.
