Baby it’s cold outside…Getting enough Vitamin D from the sun is essential for toddlers to reach their physical milestones and for children and teens to build strong bones. And despite our sunny climate, Vitamin D deficiency is on the rise in South Africa, especially among darker skin children, who need slightly more than the recommended 20 minutes of sunshine a day. Cow’s milk, egg yolks, liver, margarine and soy milk are all rich in Vitamin D, so encourage your child to eat more of these foods.
