Being a mother is a full-time job— now imagine having to juggle studying and working as well. Sounds hectic, doesn’t it? But it doesn’t have to be that hard; not if you have a little guidance of course.
Exam season has arrived, so here are a few tips to help you prepare for your examinations.
Get up an hour or two earlier
Waking up to go to work is hard enough, so waking up earlier may seem like a nightmare. But know that this is only temporary! The early starts will make your life easier during this period because you’ll be able to squeeze in some study time. In the morning, your brain will feel refreshed from a good night’s rest, and you’ll be able to absorb more information. It will only take a few days for you to adapt to the slightly earlier morning routine and you’ll get through the day knowing that you’ve already studied.
Cook and freeze meals over the weekend
Cooking can be quite time-consuming, especially if you need to cook every evening! Free up time to study (or to spend precious time with your family while they’re still awake) by cooking a big batch during the weekend and freezing it. The food can be defrosted and eaten during the week…Just be sure to let your food reach room temperature before freezing it!
Communicate with your employer
Let your employer know that you’ll be writing exams well in advance. Let them know the dates and find out whether you’re entitled to study leave. If you are, this will make things much easier for you, and your employer will have enough time to make other arrangements, if necessary.
If you have a domestic worker, think about asking them to work overtime – and if you don’t have one, then maybe you should consider getting one for the time being. This way, you won’t have to worry about household chores. Wondering who’s going to drive your children around while you’re studying? Consider asking a friend or a relative to become “the driver” – just for these few weeks. If you do decide to go this route, and they are making use of your car make sure that you update the details of the regular driver with your car insurance provider.
