Warming up to winter fashion with keedo

Keedo winter range

There are few sights as heart-warming as a child bundled up in warm clothing, ready to explore their way through a crisp winter’s day. Children’s fashion should inspire exploration while exuding style and ensuring comfort. After all, they’re only small for so long.

As the mornings begin to exhibit a “bite” in the air, and the evenings become a little chilly, the passionate Keedo staff have been working hard to deliver an Autumn/Winter collection inspired by the playful creatures of the earth, found in the enchanted woods of a child’s imagination. With a touch of whimsy, the March/April range stirs childhood curiosity and features the colour pallete of the 2018 Winter season.

As Valerie Andrews states in A Passion for this Earth; “As a child, one has that magical capacity to move among the many eras of the earth; to see the land as an animal does; to experience the sky from the perspective of a flower or a bee; to feel the earth quiver and breathe beneath us; to know a hundred different smells of mud and listen unselfconsciously to the soughing of the trees.”

From browns to dusty pinks, oranges, bottle greens and navy blues, every grower, dress, skirt, jacket, sweater, and pair of tights or pants has been tenderly crafted to deliver clothing made with love and care. This dedication is why Keedo is South Africa’s favourite kids clothing brand – along with its commitment to style, comfort, educational efforts, respecting nature and allowing kids to simply be kids.

As a South African born designer children’s boutique, Keedo is devoted to quality from concept to creation; every detail of every garment is monitored from inception through to completion. With the implementation of sound operations, sustainable practices, and a trusted, tried and tested “design to store” process, the company consistently delivers on its promise for excellence and attention to detail.

The manufacturer’s predominantly local production process has been honed over almost three decades. With a large local manufacturing plant, the company employs 180 women. It focuses on employee development, and provides support to its staff, most of whom are single and have extended families to maintain.

The process begins with a brainstorming session driven by the Keedo design team. Ideas and concepts for new ranges are discussed at length, guided by inspirational messages, the upcoming season, current fashion trends and consumer feedback. The team then meticulously designs the clothing, utilising stylish prints and graphics to complete the perfect look.

With the concept completed, the creation process can begin, starting with a pattern maker expertly transforming the drawings into 3D garments, converted from Computer Aided Designs (CADs). The machinists then use these patterns to create high quality samples of the designs. The samples are carefully considered, and the final items selected are skilfully manufactured. The new ranges are then distributed to the many Keedo stores across South Africa, to be sold.

As we await the winter months, parents can rest assured that their “keedos” will be warm, comfortable and fashionable. With its motto “Where Love and Care is Born”, Keedo once again delivers a range that is sensible yet stylish, comfortable and colourful, contemporary yet classical – leaving kids looking and feeling “ah”-inspiringly cute.
