How your body’s pH can harm your health

A bad diet can cause an excess of acid in your body, making you more susceptible to sickness and disease. Here’s how to boost your body’s alkalinity, and reap the health rewards…

The foods and drinks you consume all have an effect on the pH level of your body. A healthy pH is 7.0. If your pH is lower, your body is more acidic. If it’s over 7.0, you’re in alkaline territory, and your body will thank you for it.

When your body becomes too acidic, your system is in imbalance, and you immediately begin to show symptoms of it. Tiredness, a runny nose, a skin breakout: all these can result from too much acidity.

These are all symptoms of a body that’s too acidic (acidosis):

  • Fatigue
  • Dental problems
  • Excess weight
  • Muscle pain, cramps and twitching
  • Nausea
  • Weak bones
  • Skin breakouts
  • Food cravings
  • Aching joints
  • Heartburn

In addition, bacteria, yeast and fungi proliferate in an acidic environment, making a cold or infections far more likely. More worryingly, oxygen levels in your cells drop, stalling cell metabolism, which can lead to the growth of cancer cells. An alkaline body has a healthy cell turnover, which is key to preventing cancer.

‘Every single person who has cancer has a pH that is too acidic.’ – Nobel Prize Winner and Biochemist, Dr Otto H Warburg.

When your body is too acidic, it takes minerals from vital organs and your bones in order to neutralise the acidity. This leads to depleted reserves of calcium, potassium, sodium and magnesium. What’s more, this depletion can go undetected for years, until your body starts to experience acidosis.

So how do you fix it? Here are 5 tips for rebalancing your body’s pH, and creating a more alkaline, disease-resistant environment.

  1. Eat plenty of leafy green vegetables: spinach, kale, asparagus, celery, cucumber, broccoli and avocado.
  2. Keep well hydrated. Water is most influential when it comes to addressing the body’s pH balance.
  3. Start each day with a glass of lemon water.
  4. Cut down on alcohol, caffeine, processed foods and soft drinks.
  5. Supplement with an alkalinity remedy, such as A. Vogel Multiforce®Alkalinity Powder. Organic and completely natural, this supplement has an alkalinising effect on the body, neutralising the pH. Order online from Faithful-to-nature.
