Salt and pepper calamari

This salt and pepper calamari dish is refreshing and can be prepared in just 35 minutes!

  • 600g calamari tubes
  • 125ml cake flour
  • 15ml Maldon salt
  • 15ml ground black pepper
  • 500ml sunflower oil
  • lime wedges, to serve


  1. Cut the calamari tubes in half and in half again. Score the tubes with a diamond pattern and pat dry with paper towels. Combine flour, salt and pepper. Dip tubes into seasoned flour and shake off the excess.
  2. Heat oil on medium-high and fry in batches for about 3 minutes or until light golden and cooked through. Drain on paper towels. Serve with lime wedges.
