This warm banana cinnamon ‘tea’ will make you sleep better tonight.
- 15 mins
- 1 banana
- 250ml milk
- 3ml ground cinnamon
- pinch ground nutmeg
- 5ml honey
- Cut both ends of the banana (leave the skin on) and cut in half. Bring to a boil with the milk, cinnamon and nutmeg. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain and stir in honey.
- Optional: Remove the peel after simmering and blitz banana into the milk until smooth for a warm smoothie.
Milk and bananas contain the amino acid tryptophan, which breaks down into melatonin and serotonin (a hormone that promotes feelings of relaxation) in the brain, helping you to sleep. The combination of the added honey, cinnamon and nutmeg increases this drink’s ‘sleeping power’.
